Chilliwack, BC – The 143rd edition of the Chilliwack Fair is August 7-9 and you can already taste the fun before the gates open.
A little history lesson: In 1873, the non-profit Chilliwack and District Agricultural Society incorporated and began producing the Chilliwack Exhibition and Fair. The Fair has run continuously since then and is the second-oldest fair in British Columbia.
A Community Event
The culture and heritage of Chilliwack is what makes our community strong and unique. The Fair is an opportunity to celebrate all that the community has to offer and despite being the foundation on which it was built, the Fair is about much more than agriculture. We are proud to feature many local artists, organizations and businesses throughout the Fair. Opportunities to participate in the Fair are countless, whether as a 4-H member showing a favourite animal, an entrant in the annual Fruit Pie Baking Contest, an event sponsor, or a volunteer in any of a number of different capacities during fair time.
Friday Night is Country Night
An acclaimed musician with a reputation for writing from the heart, Bobby Wills (MDM Recordings Inc. / Universal Music Canada) is best know for two things; his signature cowboy hat and a diverse musical personality – combining a classic country sound with a toe-tapping, dynamic twist. A consecutive 2013 – 2014 Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA®) Male Artist of the Year nominee, with the release of his third album Crazy Enough (street date June 23, 2014) Wills musically shifted gears, exploring a heavier country sound. The album features an array of tracks blending an intense mixture of rock-inspired country songs featuring an attack of the senses with fuller percussion and a bevy of string instruments, complemented by his signature melodic Danielle Marie is creating quite the buzz in Canadian Country music. The 19 year old Vancouver based starlet was just named the 2015 CCMA Spotlight Performance Winner and will perform at the fan-favourite Legends Show: A Tribute to Yesterday and Today during this year’s Country Music Week in Halifax. Danielle was also recently chosen as a Semi-Finalist in the world wide Unsigned Only Music competition for 2 of her original songs off her new Album ‘Here Right Now’, which hit the top 25 Country Albums on iTunes within 24 hours of release in June and landed her a spot on the New & Noteworthy iTunes home page. Throw in an ‘Artist to Watch’ nomination at the 2015 Edmonton Music Awards, a 2014 Unsigned Only Honourable Mention, a 2013 International Songwriting Semi-Finalist and a 2013 10-Dance U.S National Ballroom Gold medal Champion title, it is not hard to see that Danielle Marie has got what it takes to rise to the top. Danielle’s new single ‘Here Right Now’ the album title track is currently on Country Radio and she will take to the road next week to Ontario to continue her Canadian radio tour!
