MOT Shores Up Abby Overpass After Homeless Camp Damage

Abbotsford, BC (Star FM) – Ministry of Transportation operations manager Mike Kelly says there wasn’t any lasting damage under the Highway 1 overpass on Riverside Road where people in a homeless camp had dug away at the soil on the slope.

Kelly says crews are conducting repairs and says they’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“Our crews will be restoring the dirt fill slope and then placing rock over top, so that should prevent anyone from digging into it in the future.”

Kelly says the work should be done by the end of the week.
