Man Falls From Balcony During APD Investigation

Abbotsford, BC –  On Saturday Evening ( May 16, 2015 at 11:55 pm) the Abbotsford Police Department was called to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of McKenzie Road in response to an argument involving a male and female.
Upon arrival, APD Patrol Division members located the female in a third floor suite but it appeared that the 26 year old male had left prior to
police arrival. Investigating officers determined that a probation order stipulated that the
man was not to have contact with the woman.
Two officers left the scene to begin to prepare the report documenting the Breach of Probation and request for charges. One officer remained nearby in the event the man returned.
At 12:50 am on Sunday, May 17, 2015 he did. Police re-attended the suite and looked for the man. When he was not located inside, a search of the balcony was
conducted. Officers then spotted the man on the ground three stories below. They rushed to his aid and called for an ambulance. The man was taken to hospital in serious condition.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604 859 5225 or text us at 222973 (abbypd).
