Fraser Valley Radio Ratings, Changes At 89.5 The Drive

Fraser Valley (with files from Broadcast Dialogue/Numeris/Puget Sound Radio) – The Fall 2019 Fraser Valley Radio Ratings from Numeris have been released. No major surprises in the numbers.

Country 107 still rules in Abbotsford, while Star FM rules the roost in Chilliwack. Both stations are owned by Rogers.

Pattison owned 89.5 The Drive sees a shake up as the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group have transferred General Manager Kevin Gemmell to their cluster of stations in Prince George. A new management direction is expected by the New Year in Chilliwack.

Kevin Gemmell has been named the new general manager of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group’s Prince George, BC operations, including CKPG-TV, 99.3 The Drive (CKDV-FM), 101.3 The River (CKKN-FM) and CKPGToday.ca. (Connie Thiessen/Broadcast Dialogue)

Since 2008, Gemmell has been heading up 89.5 The Drive (CHWK-FM) Chilliwack as station manager and general sales manager. He started his broadcasting career as an announcer with Fabmar Communications in Melfort, SK, in 1996 before moving into a sales role and eventually station manager/sales manager. He’s also worked at stations in Moose Jaw, Lloydminster and Grande Prairie.

Gemmell is well-known in the B.C. broadcast community for his work as past president of the BC Association of Broadcasters (BCAB). He’s also a past president of the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, and a former board member of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack.
