Cultus Lake Park Bylaw Fines Increased

Cultus Lake – The Cultus Lake Park Act was amended by the Provincial Government of British Columbia in the spring of 2019. One of the many changes approved by the Province is an increase in fines for bylaw infractions. The amount has increased to a maximum of up to $2,000, from the previous $50 – which had been in place since the 1930s.

Cultus Lake Park staff reviewed the bylaw fines in other municipalities to ensure that the Park’s fines would be comparable. Staff then submitted the recommendations to the Board, which reviewed the changes and voted to increase the fines, which are now in full effect. The revised bylaws can be found at https://www.cultuslake.bc.ca/bylaws/. The Board encourages everyone who lives, works and visits Cultus Lake Park to take the time to review the bylaws and ensure that they adhere to them while in the Park.

The Cultus Lake Park bylaw compliance and enforcement officers and staff are committed to helping to educate the community on the bylaws. They understand that some people may not realize that they are breaking a bylaw. A bylaw compliance and enforcement officer’s first response, where possible, is to inform the person of the infraction so that they can immediately make adjustments to comply with the bylaw.

For those who feel that they have received a fine that is unwarranted and want to dispute the ticket, information can be found here: http://fvbylaw.ca/.
