Ruth and Naomi’s 36-Unit Family Centre – Media Tour – (VIDEO)

Chilliwack – It started with the September 2016 announcement of a $500-million investment in affordable rental housing through out BC , part of that would become the Ruth and Naomi’s (RAN) Family Centre project.

The Province then selected Ruth and Naomi’s Mission to receive $6 million in capital funding toward a new 36-unit housing project at 46123 and 46135 Princess Avenue, in behind the current RAN.

The Centre is now open and at 70% capacity. bachelor suites start at $550 a month and residents will have to pay for their own cable, hydro and internet. Medical and dental facilities are within the building as well as a children’s day care, addiction counseling (for women) and basic life skills classes including cooking. That room is reminiscent of the home economics classes you once took in high school.

There are units from studio to three bedroom with the emphasis on keeping families together.

The “official grand opening and fundraiser” is Friday night May 10 at the Main Street Church from 7-8:30PM (9345 Main Street).
