Mission Pedestrian Hit and Run

Mission – On Tuesday (March 5th, shortly after 8AM) Mission RCMP responded to a pedestrian who had been hit by a large pickup truck near the area of Cedar Street and 7th Avenue (near Mission Secondary).

The driver of the large pickup was turning onto 7th Avenue from a gas station parking lot when they struck a young female who was attempting to cross the parking lot entrance.  The young female left the sidewalk and onto the roadway at the same time the driver moved forward at a low speed to complete their turn. 

The young female suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.  The driver of the pickup was later located and charged with multiple offences under the Motor Vehicle Act including Drive Without Consideration, Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and Fail to Yield to Pedestrian.  Further investigation revealed the driver was not aware they had made contact with the young female.
