Mission Appoints New Deputy Chief Administrative Officer & Corporate Officer

Mission – The District of Mission announced Barclay Pitkethly will be joining the municipality as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and Jennifer Russell, Manager of Corporate Administration, will assume the role of Corporate Officer.

Currently the Director of Regional Programs with the Fraser Valley Regional District, Barclay brings a wealth of experience and established relationships to the role. Previous to his current position he was the Deputy Director of Development Services in Mission.

Chief Administrative Officer Mike Younie said, “Barclay is a well-respected professional and will be able to move into this role very quickly. We’re looking forward to Barclay joining our team”.

Pitkethly added, “Spending seven years of my career in Mission helps in understanding the community and its strength and challenges. Mission has some of the most knowledgeable, passionate and engaged business leaders, community catalysts, and citizens I have seen throughout 17 plus years in local government; I am very excited about a return to Mission in my new role as Deputy Chief Administration Officer.”

Jennifer Russell is taking on the role of Corporate Officer for the municipality. She has been functioning as the Deputy Corporate Officer for some time and formalizing her role recognizes her legislative expertise and exhaustive training.

On the additional duties Younie said, “Jennifer’s knowledge of legislation and commitment to excellence in corporate administration make her an asset to the municipality. The shift to Corporate Officer will allow Jennifer to develop the position into what it needs to be to support the recent and expected growth in Mission.”
