3rd Annual Provincial Conference On Child Abuse – Surrey – February 19 & 20

Surrey – Sophie’s Place Child and Youth Advocacy Centre conference will focus on trauma and resiliency for both children & youth that have been abused and the health and well being of their service providers.

The conference will bring world renowned speakers such as Amanda Lindhout and Theo Fleury to speak about their experiences with trauma and abuse.

The conference takes place on February 19 and 20 th at Surrey City Hall and will host experts from a wide array of backgrounds including a forensic psychologist, trauma and recovery specialists and a retired police captain and graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Established in 2012, Sophie’s Place is BC’s first co-housed fully operational Child and Youth Advocacy Centre. It is a best practices model where children who have been abused mentally, physically or sexually can receive the necessary services in a child-friendly environment from a specialized multi-disciplinary team. Sophie’s Place operates under the umbrella of The Centre for Child Development in Surrey, a facility which provides comprehensive programs and services for over 3000 children with special needs.
