Abbotsford – The Fraser Valley Bandits will hold a major news conference to announce the first-ever member of the team’s roster in advance of its inaugural season in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), the Official First Division Professional League Partner of Canada Basketball.
Ironically the announcement will be in Vancouver and not in Abbotsford. Bandits team president, Lee Genier, formerly of the Saskatchewan Rush and Calgary Stampeders, will also be in attendance. Joining Genier will be key stakeholders from the Lower Mainland and BC, such as pro players, coaches, key sports industry representatives, and officials.
The new pro basketball team is set to tip off this spring, playing their home dates at the Abbotsford Centre.
The 8 team league will play under international FIBA rules.
