Abbotsford – As the push towards 200K continues for Abbotsford and more major concerts come to town, as well as major trade shows and tourism, the spin off is that people have to be able to fly in and out of Abbotsford.
In August 2018, a $5M expansion project to the main terminal at YXX Abbotsford International Airport started.
On Thursday, politicians representing all levels of government, touched down at YXX for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
This expansion will allow for additional CATSA screening lines, double the size of the Departure Lounge (post-security area), improve Wi-Fi, and add two additional airline gates.
City Councilor Dave Loewen noted and tipped the hat to Swoop Airlines, who are a key player in bringing increased traffic to YXX. This coupled with the expansion and widening of Mt. Lehman Road with improved access from the north and Highway 1 will greatly improve passenger flow.
