Fraser Health Issues OD Alert- Specific to North Surrey

Surrey/Fraser Valley (with files from CP) – The Fraser Health Authority is warning drug users to use less than they normally would following a spike in overdoses Friday night.

This on the heels of the monthly “Welfare Wednesday”.

Fraser Health issued an overdose alert to service providers and community organizations in North Surrey after a “significant increase” in overdoses in the course of four hours.

12 overdoses happened in that short period of time.

Fraser Health media told FVN that they did not hear of any spikes in other regions including the Fraser Valley, notably Abbotsford and Chilliwack

The authority continues to  put out the word on learning how to use naloxone kits.

If you believe someone is experiencing an overdose, they say call 911 and provide breaths every five seconds until the person regains consciousness or help arrives.

The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act provides immunity for those who call 911 in the case of an overdose (if the person calling is in possession of narcotics).
