Surrey RCMP Pack The Police Car For The Food Bank

Surrey – Surrey RCMP is hoping to fill a few more stomachs this coming long weekend by launching a Thanksgiving themed “Pack the Police Car” event in support of local food banks.

Between October 2nd and October 4th, the Surrey RCMP will be at grocery stores around the city collecting non-perishable food and cash donations in support of the Surrey Food Bank and Sources Food Bank.

Officers, staff, and volunteers will be at following four locations:

October 2nd, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

·         Save on Foods (10313 King George Boulevard)

·         Save on Foods (18710 Fraser Highway)

October 3rd, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

·         Thrifty Foods (102 – 15745 Croydon Drive)

October 4th, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

·         Save on Foods (7320 King George Boulevard)

“As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, please give some thought to those less fortunate in our community who do not have the means of enjoying a hearty meal with family or friends,” says Surrey RCMP Inspector Wendy Mehat, Community Support & Safety Officer, “Please help us pack our police cars in support of our local food banks to ensure that no one goes hungry this holiday season and beyond.”

Local food banks graciously accept donations including grocery gift cards and monetary donations and suggest the following non-perishable food donations: canned protein (fish and meat), canned fruit and vegetables, meals in a tin, wholegrain rice, pasta and pasta sauces, healthy canned soup, and baby formula. The Surrey Food Bank also accepts general baby supplies for its Tiny Bundles program.
