Union Of BC Municipalities Last Convention Before Municipal Elections

Whistler – Mayors, councilors and other delegates have made their way to Whistler for the 115th Annual convention of UBCM, the Union of BC Municipalities. Some 2000 delegates will break down into 50 different workshops, forums and planetary sessions over the course of this run, from Monday September 10 to Friday September 14.

Chilliwack Mayor Sharon Gaetz will kick things off on Monday morning as she will discuss the the submission to the Province on housing and the local owner transparency act.

Gaetz will also be in the company of other Valley Mayors including Henry Braun of Abbotsford, Mission’s Randy Hawes, Harrison’s Leo Facio, and Agassiz/Kent’s Mayor John Van Laerhoven.

Wednesday’s Keynote Speaker will be venture capitalist Arlene Dickinson.

As per tradition, the provincial leaders will address the throng.

Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver on Wednesday.

Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson on Thursday.

Finally on Friday, Premier John Horgan.

Housing and Cannabis Legislation top the agenda.
