Long Weekend Forest Fire Extinguished In Manning Park

Manning Park – BC Wildfire crews responded to a wildfire near the Coldspring campground around 6:30PM Sunday evening. A camper at the grounds along Highway 3 called the event into crews.

Andy Boule with Manning Park said the fire was 20 square meters in size, aggressively burning and starting to go into the trees. BC Wildfire sent a 3500 gallon tanker to fight the blaze which took four hours to contain. East Gate Fire Department were also called into the battle.

General Manager Vern Schram sighed in relief that there was no wind to fan the flames. He noted that garbage and an empty pack of cigarettes were found near the area, suggesting that this was not a nature caused fire.

There was no threat to campers or the Manning Park resort.
