Friday Abbotsford Homicide On Promontory Court – Victim ID’d

Abbotsford – JANUARY 20 UPDATE – IHIT has identified the victim as 24 year old Lovepreet “Jason” Dhaliwal. IHIT has released a photo of a vehicle that they want to find, as well as the shooter. IHIT searching for a Black 4 door Acura TL believed connected to shooting.  A vehicle matching that description was later found burned in Langley in the 22300 block of 61st Avenue. IHIT and forensics are trying to confirm that indeed is the suspect vehicle.

JANUARY 19 ORIGINAL STORY – Abbotsford Police called in IHIT around 6:30PM Friday night after APD determined they were dealing with a homicide.

A shooting took place on Promontory Court off of Ridgeview Drive in West Abbotsford.

The victim was shot while he was in a car.

IHIT has yet to release any other information.

Some two hours after the shooting, APD released this statement:

Tonight at 6:30 pm, the Abbotsford Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the 3500 block of Promontory Court. 

APD Patrol Division officers arrived in the area and located a van, with a male inside suffering from a gunshot wound.  Unfortunately, the victim, a male in his mid-20’s, was pronounced dead at scene prior to transport to the hospital.

This shooting appears to be a targeted incident.

The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Section are on scene and this investigation is being transitioned to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
