Abby Police – A Busy Drunken Thursday Night (VIDEO)

Abbotsford – Two drunk drivers, a rollover crash, a sideswiped cruiser…and a partridge in a pear tree. (Pardon the sarcasm…)

It was that kind of crazy holiday season Thursday night for Abbotsford Police.

Starting around midnight near the UFV campus, a 9-1-1 call came in about a driver who was swerving and nearly drove into pedestrians walking along the road.

Police started and then abandoned the pursuit, in the name of safety.

APD eventually found the car, abandoned after it had rolled down an embankment into blackberry bushes..

APD Sgt. Judy Bird says the canine unit was brought in and three people were found, taken to hospital and then arrested.

As this was happening, a police cruiser was side swiped by another impaired driver.

That driver was pulled over and found to have a driving prohibition among other issues.

Bird stated the obvious, that you “can’t make these things up.”

It renews the call to wear reflective clothing when walking at night and if you plan to party, make sure you have a safe way to get home. Either cab, sober driver or Operation Red Nose.

…and that was just Thursday…..
