Abby PD – Arrest Attempt Turns Into Chop Shop Investigation

Abbotsford  – On Sunday (February 12, 2017, at 9:30 am), Abbotsford Police Department Patrol Division officers attended a property in the 27600 block of Downes Road in an attempt to locate a 48-year-old man wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for parole revocation.

Dean Andrew Douglas SYKES was also wanted for warrants out of Vancouver and Langley.

SYKES is a balding, Caucasian man who stands 6’1” tall and weighs 210 pounds with brown eyes.

APD officers did not locate SYKES on the property but they did find a number of vehicles on the property along with a boat, a trailer and a Bobcat. Many of the vehicles were either gutted or dismantled including a stolen white Ford pickup truck from Surrey, a black Ford F-350 from Langley and a red Ford F-250 from Abbotsford.

The trailer was confirmed stolen from Delta and the Bobcat with a punched ignition and other likely stolen property was seized for further investigation. In total it was estimated that over $100,000 in property was recovered.

Police continue to search for Dean SYKES in connection to his outstanding warrants.
