Coroner’s Inquest Into Death Of Kevin Seiji Mukuyama From Chilliwack

Burnaby/Chilliwack – The BC Coroners Service has announced that a public inquest will be held into the death of Kevin Seiji Mukuyama.

The inquest will take place beginning November 14, 2016, at the Coroners Courtroom in Burnaby.

Mr. Mukuyama, aged 42, of Chilliwack, died after an encounter with Chilliwack RCMP at a residence in the 9700-block of Oak Street in Chilliwack on the afternoon of Feb. 11, 2015. A conducted-energy weapon was deployed by the RCMP during the encounter.

Presiding coroner Brynne Redford and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses under oath to determine the facts surrounding this death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances.

An inquest is a formal process that allows for public presentation of evidence relating to a death.
