With Vancouver shot “Deadpool”  and the re-boot of the “X-Files” that was shot around Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, the area is ripe for a bounce back in the film industry.

The loonie and tax incentives combined with the already well known locations makes it necessary to her to address the industry as well as film commissions in the area to step up to the plate and do an industry re-boot of their own.

Here is her open letter:

Hey Everyone…

I just want to let you know that I’ve been ‘out there’ mentioning the WACK to those who can best help us take advantage of the overflow situation in YVR.

With our low dollar, the lack of studio space in YVR and the fact that we are ONE HOUR DRIVE (OKAY it’s NOT RUSH HOUR, BUT NEITHER IS OUR BUSINESS) from Boundary/Hwy 1, I felt NOW was the moment for us to capitalize on.

I contacted Crawford (Directors Guild) to say – HEY WE’RE HERE!!!

I let Netty Tam (Creative Chilliwack) know of my efforts and now I’m reaching out to you to share our availability.

I haven’t ever PUSHED the Wack in garnering biz here (because my work takes me everywhere) but seriously I do believe that we can capitalize on the situation and we should STRIKE immediately so that we can get things moving, locations secured, studio opportunities determined, and of course however you can fit into this model, would be your bonus, and also if you feel you would like to share to others in our film industry community, please feel free to do so.

I don’t have many people’s email addy’s out here – so again, please share and let them know they can contact me at the earliest.

I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SAY, “I WORKED UNIT IN CHILLIWACK”!!!

Xxx
