Mission/Fraser Valley – On October 8th 2015 at about 10:30 a.m. a hunter located some human remains in the area of Norrish Creek Road, a remote logging road North of Mission.
Mission RCMP called in the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team as a result of what they believed to be a suspicious death.
With the assistance of the Coroner’s office, the human remains have now been identified as 26 year old David Urquhart. Mr. Urquhart was last seen in the Maple Ridge area in late August and was reported missing to Ridge Meadows RCMP on August 31, 2015.
David Urquhart was known to frequent areas such as Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Mission in the Fraser Valley. It is hoped that the people he associated with will come forward to share their knowledge of his whereabouts in late August of 2015. This will aid investigators in determining his activities prior to his disappearance and subsequent death.
Sergeant Stephanie Ashton, media relations officer for IHIT says
IHIT is working closely with Fraser Valley Police, the Coroner’s office and numerous support units to determine what happened to Mr. Urquhart but it will take the help of the public and the people who knew him to determine his actions prior to his death.
The area where Mr. Urquhart’s body was found is frequented by hunters and target shooters who may have seen something suspicious or out of the ordinary while engaging in those pastimes. Anyone who was in the area of Norrish Creek Road in late August or early September may be able to aid in this investigation. says Ashton.
