Abby Police Make Significant B&E Busts

Abbotsford, BC – The Abbotsford Police Department has been investigating a series of 38 break and enters that have taken place in the Townline Hill area since November 2014. The majority of homes were targeted for cash and jewelry. The total value of the stolen property in these break and enter incidents is $750,000.

The Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) of the APD was tasked with investigating these crimes in the spring of 2015. On September 29, 2015, CRU arrested 45-year-old Shane Conrad TAKAKENEW of Surrey and 20-year-old Dustin LITTLEWOLFE of Vancouver. TAKAKENEW has been charged with 4 counts of Break and Enter and LITTLEWOLFE has been charged with 1 count of Break and Enter in this ongoing APD investigation. Other charges may arise from incidents in Abbotsford or from other Lower Mainland jurisdictions.

Through the course of the investigation, two factors proved vitally important: quality video obtained from cameras in the area of the incidents, and the assistance received from the Surrey and Coquitlam RCMP. In addition to concerted efforts by Crime Reduction Units, the pursuit of the suspects in this comprehensive and challenging investigation required the utilization of Patrol, Forensic, Crime Analyst and Emergency Response Team resources.

The Abbotsford Police Department’s CRU has recovered some property believed to be associated with these break and enters but calls and inquiries to APD are not necessary as investigators will be making direct contact with the victims.

We would like to thank all of the victims and witnesses for their assistance and patience through this extensive investigation.
