UFV Women’s Cascades Soccer #5 In Country – Golf In Top 10

Abbotsford/ChilliwackSoccer -The University of the Fraser Valley women’s soccer team moved up one spot to No. 5 in the latest Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national rankings released Tuesday morning.

The Cascades (5-0-1) are coming off a six-point weekend on the road which included wins over the Alberta Pandas (2-0 on Friday) and the UNBC Timberwolves (6-1 on Sunday). They’re the last remaining undefeated team in Canada West, and they’re the conference’s top team in the national rankings – UBC is No. 7, and Trinity Western is No. 9.

Head coach Rob Giesbrecht’s charges have been ranked in each of the first five CIS polls of the season, setting a program record for consecutive weeks in the rankings. The previous record of two was achieved at the start of the 2011 season.

This coming weekend, the Cascades make a road swing through Alberta. They’ll face the MacEwan Griffins (2-3-1) in Edmonton on Saturday and the Mount Royal Cougars (1-4-1) in Calgary on Sunday. Both games kick off at noon Mountain time (11 a.m. Pacific) and will be webcast at canadawest.tv (pay per view).
