Chilliwack RCMP Need Your Help In Robbery Investigation

Chilliwack, BC –  RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in the robbery of a local restaurant.

On Sunday  Afternoon (May 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.) a lone male wearing a disguise entered a restaurant in the 46200 block of Yale Road (At Nowell). The male allegedly produced a weapon and demanded money from an employee working at the till. The suspect reportedly ran away from the restaurant with the stolen cash.

Police immediately responded to the robbery complaint and after conducting a thorough search of the area did not locate a suspect. Two schools in the area were placed in a hold and secure mode during the search.

“The School Action for Emergencies (SAFE) Plan was initiated during the police action, with access to and from the schools stopped for approximately half an hour as a precautionary measure, to ensure the safety of the students and staff”, said Cpl. Mike Rail.

The suspect was described as an aboriginal male, 165 cm (5’ 5”) tall, with a stocky build, wearing black track pants, black ball cap, and a black hoody.

“This business has been victimized for the third time in recent weeks by robbers” says Cpl. Mike Rail, ”While our General Investigation Support Team continues to follow all investigational leads to apprehend the person responsible we are meeting with the business owner to discuss appropriate security measures.”
