Rona Will Fill Chilliwack’s Target Store

Chilliwack, BC (With Files From Chilliwack Progress) –  After the major announcement this week that Lowe’s would take over a number of Target leases throughout Canada including Abbotsford, there was speculation as to what would happen with the Chilliwack location at Cottonwood Mall.

Walmart and Canadian Tire will do the honours for other shops around the country but that made no sense in the economic landscape of the Wack.

The former Target/Zeller’s was a anchor tenant and the Mall administration, while they would not publicly admit it, were obviously concerned about the future.

The Chilliwack Progress has learned that Rona will leave their Yale Road location and head south to Sardis.

The lease on their current location expires in June 2016, so management felt the timing was too good to pass up.

The current Rona location has a few aging issues including water maintenance, so moving to a recently refurbished location complete with 90,000 square feet was a no-brainer.

Rona won the lease through an auction process and expects to have their Grand Opening in early 2016.
