Chilliwack – Chilliwack is getting a brand new Primary Care Centre! This much-needed facility will open on May 17th and will provide care to people who need to see a doctor within 24 hours but don’t need an emergency visit; for example, for minor cuts, high fever, minor infection etc. The Centre will also act as a bridge when people are not yet connected to a family doctor. In addition, it will facilitate mental health and addictions services.
The Chilliwack and Fraser Health Rural Primary Care Centre is called Momíyelhtelaxwt in Halq’emeylem, which means “helping one another.” This is a fitting name, since it took the efforts of Fraser Health, the Ministry of Health, the Chilliwack Division of Family Practice and the First Nations Health Authority to make this clinic a reality. There will also be 40 health care professionals working in the clinic once it opens, including family doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, clinical pharmacists, traditional wellness mentors and other allied health professionals.
The clinic is located at 7955 Evans Rd. and will be open Monday to Friday 9:00 to 5:00.
