MCC Abbotsford Collecting Buckets Of Hope For Christmas

Abbotsford – This fall, news feeds were abuzz as disaster after disaster devastated people and communities in Haiti, Mexico, Bangladesh, Yemen, the DR Congo and other parts  of Africa and Middle East.

This Christmas, from November 30 to December 31st, Mennonite Central Committee has transformed the atrium at the MCC Centre on Gladys for Christmas and to remind people that this is a season for giving. People visiting the Centre are invited to sponsor a relief kit that will be sent to the front lines of MCC’s disaster response efforts around the world.

Last year, MCC sent 16,787 relief kits to partners around the world.

Empty buckets can be picked up and packed at home, or sponsored for $50 at the MCC Centre, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. MCC Relief Kits are 20-litre buckets filled with bath soap, shampoo, laundry soap, tooth brushes, bath towels, combs, fingernail clipper, bandages, sanitary pads.
