Agassiz Fire, Seabird and BC Wildfire Units Working Lougheed/Mt. Woodside Brushfire

Agassiz – On Wednesday evening, the Agassiz Fire Department was on scene in the 2000 block of the Lougheed Highway (Mount Woodside) working an approximate half hectare wildfire.

Significant winds whipped the fire up and continued to push it towards the forest. First in crews aggressively attacked the fire and were able to contain it.

Support from the Seabird Island Fire Department and the BC Wildfire Service helped to contain the fire before it gained hold of the underbrush.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

With the warm temperatures and the conditions drying out, this is the first of what could be many fires of this kind for Spring 2021.
