Coquihalla — First the snow then the real spring. A Friday snowfall warning for the Coquihalla has been issued by Environment Canada. Once this passes, temperatures will rise to the teens by Sunday.

A reminder that snow tires MUST remain on your vehicle for interior driving until April 30.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt

Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

An active frontal system is sliding down the BC Coast and will impact the south coast beginning this morning.

With an ideal southwesterly flow, ample moisture, and relatively low snow levels, the Coquihalla Summit is expected to get snow, heavy at times, starting mid morning and continuing into this evening.

Snow will taper off to a few flurries overnight.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

https://shiftintowinter.ca/ reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.

Road conditions are available at www.drivebc.ca.
