Positive Living Fraser Valley Society Joins Phoenix Society – Services Include Harm Reduction, Housing, Employment

Abbotsford/Surrey – The Phoenix Drug & Alcohol Recovery and Education Society (Phoenix Society) and Positive Living Fraser Valley Society (Positive Living) announced they have brought the two societies together. Positive Living’s Abbotsford-based health programs will continue to operate as part of the Phoenix Society.

The Phoenix Society  responds to the needs of their clients across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley by offering an extensive continuum of care from outreach and harm reduction services to a diverse range of residential addiction treatment, housing and recovery supports.

With this collaboration clients will now have the opportunity to enter one of the service locations in Abbotsford or Surrey, and be connected to this extensive continuum of care ,starting them on their wellness journey.

“Combining these two charities under the Phoenix Society will allow us to leverage the history, successes, and strengths of each entity—while being better positioned to meet the continued challenges presented by the growth in mental illness and substance misuse, homelessness and poverty in our communities,” said Keir Macdonald, Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Society.

Along with a number of other programs the Phoenix Society currently operates 66 licensed residential addiction treatment beds for men and women. They do not call themselves a 12 step program or spiritually based, however both are components of their program for those seeking that, given they operate under the provincial biopsychosocial spiritual model (also known as Rational Recovery).
