Cyrus Centre COVID-19 Protocols

Fraser Valley – Cyrus Centre operates two shelters for youth and street kids in Abbotsford and Chilliwack. Protection for at risk youth is their mandate to those under the age of 18. Chilliwack Healthier Community has released the list of protocol for Cyrus Centre for public knowledge.

•Youth shelters (including Temporary Shelter Program and Transition bed in Chilliwack) are open;

•Youth being referred will have a health screening questionnaire prior to intake;

•Youth who are staying will be monitored for Covid-19 symptoms and appropriate measures will be taken;

•Enhanced sanitization protocols are in place as per FHA recommendations;

•Showers and laundry available for sheltered youth only;

•Drop-in resource centre and its programs temporarily postponed;

•Individual needs are still being addressed with youth at Cyrus Centre on an as-needed basis while following all protocols;

•All group activities postponed;

•Dinner is still being provided in to-go containers at the front entrance ways for non-residents;

•Food hampers being distributed at main entrance way (while supplies last);

•Sheltered youth provided with all meals and other necessities;

Social distancing protocols in place and youth are being educated re Covid-19 protocols (also have signage everywhere including those from FHA);

•All persons entering Cyrus Centre must proceed to wash their hands upon arrival;

•All offices off limits to non-staff;

•Staff are not permitted to attend any community meetings nor will Cyrus host any meetings (conference calls suggested);

•We are in daily and sometimes hourly contact with other service providers, FHA, and other officials ensuring we are following or exceeding all protocols.
