Langley Township Has Plenty Of Christmas Cheer .. And Events

Langley Township – With the holidays just around the corner, the Township of Langley is getting set for the season by offering a variety of fun activities and events that will keep families active this winter.

Christmases past will be explored on Saturday, December 7, when Langley Centennial Museum in Fort Langley hosts Christmas Through the Decades. Offering the same well-loved pioneer activities that are presented each holiday season, this year’s event will also include a nostalgic journey through history, featuring games, crafts, photos, and toys that were popular between 1960 and 1999. The event runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm, and the cost is $10 for a family of four. Sign up by visiting museum.tol.ca.

From swimming, skating, and sports to arts, crafts, and creativity there are lots of options to keep kids busy from December 23 to January 3, when a variety of Holiday Camps are hosted at Township community and recreation centres. To register and for more information, visit tol.ca/camps.

Santa is making a special stop at George Preston Recreation Centre on Christmas Eve. Guests will be able to skate to holiday music, take a photo with Mr. Claus, and let the Jolly Old Elf know their last-minute wish list. Two opportunities to Skate with Santa will be held on Tuesday, December 24, from 11:30am to 1:00pm and from 1:15 to 2:45pm. General recreation admission fees apply. Find details at tol.ca/skate.

If you are feeling brave, say hello to 2020 by taking a wintry dip in an unheated outdoor pool. The Polar Bear Plunge will once again be held on New Year’s Day at the Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience at the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre. Register online at tol.ca/events for the free event, which starts at noon on Tuesday, January 1. The first 150 people to register will receive a 2020 Polar Bear Plunge crest.
