IHIT ID’s Homicide Victim Found Near Cultus Lake (Sleepy Hollow Road)

Cultus Lake – IHIT are investigating a report of a suspicious death.  The body of 26 year old Jordan Smyth was found early Friday morning (7AM, November 1), off Sleepy Hollow Road (Soowahlie First Nation) near Cultus Lake.

Smyth was wearing a black hoodie, grey sweat pants and light coloured shoes. He was killed either late on Halloween or early on November 1. His body was found on an open gravel area on First Nations land.

IHIT is working with the Chilliwack RCMP, the B.C. Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) to gather evidence.  The examination at the crime scene continues today as the Lower Mainland District’s Tactical Troop will be deployed to conduct a thorough search of the surrounding areas for physical evidence.

Drivers with dash cam video who were travelling on the roadways in the Cultus Lake area on Halloween night are urged to contact IHIT immediately.

“Mr. Jordan Smyth was known to police and we believe he was targeted for murder.  He was found wearing a black zippered hoodie, grey sweat pants, and light-coloured running shoes,” says Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT.  “There are many aspects of this investigation that still remain a mystery including the motive behind the homicide.”
