Langley Survey Seeks Input On Child Care Needs

Township Of Langley – Struggling to find affordable, quality child care? Does your current child care arrangement meet your needs?

Langley parents, guardians, and child care providers can provide their thoughts on local child care through an online survey available now at tol.ca/childcare. Township residents that complete the survey before Friday, November 22 will be able to enter a prize draw for one of three 10-visit family recreation passes.

The survey results will shape the Child Care Action Plan being prepared by the Township to better understand local issues and help the community plan for new child care spaces. The information in the Action Plan will also be shared with the Province, and may inform future provincial investments in child care spaces in the community.

“The creation of affordable, quality child care benefits children, families, and local businesses,” said Township of Langley Mayor Jack Froese.  “Although child care licensing and funding is a provincial responsibility, local governments can play an important role in planning and supporting the provision of child care and early learning.”

The Child Care Action Plan will be developed in two phases, the first of which is being done in partnership with Langley City.  During Phase 1, information will be gathered from parents, guardians, and child care providers in both Langleys through a number of engagement opportunities, including the online survey.  Funding for this project is being provided by the Union of BC Municipalities Child Care Planning Program.
