Abbotsford- The Abbotsford Pilots preseason campaign is wrapped up thanks to a 7-4 win over the Delta Ice Hawks Friday night at MSA Arena. This was the second game of a home-and-home series, which saw Abbotsford falter by a score of 5-0 on Thursday night in Delta. Multiple goal performances were a theme as four players on the ice each scored twice in the game.
Goaltender Brock Machholz faced 39 shots en route to his club’s victory. The Pilots roster was bolstered by returning players Matthew Dyck, Sahvan Gill, Noah Findlater, Jared Pitkethly, Sean McCracken, and Mason Smith.
A busy first period for Abbotsford saw four Pilots make the scoresheet, including Sahvan Gill, Davey Moody, and Hunter Brown who would all finish then night with two goals each. The second period saw both sides alternate scoring. Former Pilot Nick Methorst and Dillon Maher notched goals for Delta, while Gill and Moody added to Abbotsford’s total. In the third, both Methorst and Brown scored their second of the night and put the game to rest with a final score of 7-4.
With the preseason finished, Pilots coaching staff are now able to finalize a roster in advance of the 2019-2020 season. Practices will commence Tuesday evening and the Pilots will open the season Wednesday night in Langley against the Trappers. Puck drop its at 7:00pm at the George Preston Recreation Centre.
