Abbotsford Police/Fire Show Off How Their Drone Helps Investigations

Abbotsford – On Thursday March 7th. Abbotsford Police Drone Operator, Cst. Rob Hryhorczuk, was requested by Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service to assist with a fire investigation on Countess Street.

Cst. Hryhorczuk deployed the Abbotsford Police Remotely Piloted Aircraft System commonly referred to as a drone. The high resolution camera was able to obtain photos of the fire damage prior to investigators moving debris around. Fire investigators worked alongside the drone operator to view the video feed in real time. This is another example of emergency services working together for a common purpose and how technology is improving many aspects of those services.

APD has always been active in using new technology as well as social media and on Thursday, they released a drone photo of what they are able to see from high above using the technology.
