Abbotsford – In the final home game of the 2018-19 PJHL season, the Abbotsford Pilots (27-14-1-1) defeated the Port Moody Panthers (15-26-1-1) by a score of 5-1 on Friday night. Pilots captain Baylee Wright re-wrote junior hockey history in front of family and fans as he notched his 122nd point of the season, breaking a 41-year old PJHL record for most points in a single season. Wright recorded four points on the night. Keaton Dyck made 22 saves for the win.
1st Period:It didn’t take long for history to be made as Baylee Wright assisted Cameron Obcena (13) on the Pilots first power play of the night at 17:15 of the first frame. The assist was Wright’s record-breaking 122nd point of the season
2nd Period:The captain continued to add to his point total, scoring his 48th of the season at 5:34 assisted from Allan Gekhman and Jake De Waal. The Panthers spoiled Keaton Dyck’s bid for a shutout as Sukhraj Narwal (3) potted it home at 6:52 with assists from Jeffrey Hemlin and Tyson Gorniyuk. Wright added another assist on the night, feeding Jake De Waal for his 39th at 8:19.
3rd Period: Abbotsford came out of the gates quickly in the 3rd as Ethan Willoughby fed Jamie Housch for his 15th of the season at 1:13. Finally, Jake De Waal (40) netted his second of the night at 11:03 with helpers from Wright and McCracken.
