UPDATE – Anti-SOGI Culture Guard Chilliwack Rally – February 7

Chilliwack – In November of 2017, the anti-SOGI group Culture Guard and their Executive Director Kari Simpson, organized a rally to fuel the flames of misinformation and homophobia, with a rally at Evergreen Hall.

At the centre of this controversy was and still is, Chilliwack School Trustee Barry Neufeld and his stance that the Ministry of Education program of SOGI Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, was everything from deviant to brain washing to trendy.

Simpson went to great links to link SOGI to kinky sex and the Vancouver Queer Film Festival.

The original 2017 FVN story can be found here.

The two have organized the follow up rally for 7PM, Thursday February 7 at Evergreen Hall. The website information can be found here.

Pro SOGI and Trans advocate, Morgane Oger who is also the VP of the provincial NDP, told FVN that she will be in attendance. It is uncertain if other Chilliwack School Trustees will attend although Trustee Heather Maahs was at the 2017 rally. LGBTQ advocate and TED presenter Brad Dirks has stated on Twitter that he will be at the peaceful rally prior to the main event on Thursday.

A peaceful protect outside of Evergreen Hall has been organized for 6PM, just before Culture Guard takes the stage. That Facebook link is here.

As expected, social media has lit up as to why the City Of Chilliwack would allow their facility, to be used for this rally.

For the record, Evergreen Hall can be rented out at $54.60 an hour or $546.02 for a 10 hour event.
