Surrey– While Surrey Council has put the breaks on spending for sports and recreation projects like the new Cloverdale Arena and trying to pay for SkyTrain and a municipal police force, Surrey City Council unanimously approved to increase the discount from the current 25% to 75% at Monday night’s Regular Council meeting.
Effective January 1, 2019, seniors 70 years and older will enjoy a 75% discount on recreation passes and drop-in admissions.
Clients 70 years and older who have purchased an annual pass at a higher fee will receive a pro-rated refund to account for the new discount effective in the new year. The City of Surrey also has provisions for low-income seniors to receive additional discount through the Leisure Access Program.
