Derek Henneberry New GM Of Langley Rams

Langley – The Langley Rams Junior Football Club President Dana Matheson  announced that Derek Henneberry has accepted the position of team General Manager.


Derek was a member of Howie Zaron’s 2018 coaching staff, his receiving corps were an integral part of a Rams season that included a Cullen Cup BCFC Championship victory, Baron Trophy CJFL Semi-Final win over Hamilton and a National Championship appearance vs Saskatoon.


Matheson is quick to praise Derek for his organizational skills and sees him as a natural fit as GM “We’ve identified Derek as someone that we feel has a very bright future in this role, he is intelligent, forward thinking, well prepared in all facets and has a great football IQ” Matheson said
Henneberry is a Rams Alumnus and was a reliable receiver for the club in 2003, 04 and the Cullen Cup winning 2005 season, the Surrey native played his final year of Junior eligibility in Kelowna in 2006.


Derek is a graduate of Surrey’s Queen Elizabeth Secondary and grew up on the football fields of Bear Creek Park, where he played at every level from Atom to Midget, for the North Surrey Minor Football Organization. Derek was a member of Zaron’s Chilliwack Huskers coaching staff in 2007, 2008 and has been coaching the North Surrey Bears Midget program from 2012 to 2017, he spent the first four seasons as the Bears offensive coordinator and the final two as Head Coach.


During his time coaching the Bears they appeared in three Provincial Midget Championship games, 2013, 2017 and they took home the top prize in 2014.


Henneberry is a Commercial Account Manager at Westland Insurance in White Rock and Matheson likes what he brings to the club “Derek’s business experience will be an asset to our organization, not only as GM but as a working member of our team of volunteers, having him in this role helps us as a club in many areas” Matheson added.  

Derek, who resides in Langley with his wife Lauren their toddler son Maddox, has hit the ground running and is already working hard in preparation for the 2019 season “I am happy to take on this role and there is much work to do, I look forward to building on the clubs successes of 2018 and expect big things for this group in 2019” he stated.
