Chilliwack – The Chilliwack Alano Club continues to serve the community as a bit of an oddball. It’s a clean and sober meeting place, that has been around the community in its current location for 36 years, although the genesis of the Alano started in the 1950’s.
The building at Victoria and Nowell is home to recovery groups, as well as hosting meetings (the large meeting room is available for rent).
The Annual Kids Christmas Party is Saturday December 8. The Alano needs donations for kids from Kindergarten and Pre-school to Grade 8.
Small (new) unwrapped toys as well as books (new and used) are ideal.
Thank you to the Bookman for their contribution. Cash donations are always needed to pay for food.
The Society itself also needs cash donations to pay for improvements and upgrades to the building.
The Alano building itself was gifted to the non-profit society in 1982 and needs upgrades to its plumbing and electrical.
Unfortunately, due to having a canteen that charges for food, tax receipts for donations can not be given as the Club does not qualify under Revenue Canada rules.
The Alano Club Facebook page can be found here and their phone number is (604) 792-9099.
