Kent/Agassiz – In a statement from CSC – Correctional Service of Canada, this past Wednesday, officers performed another routine sweep and confiscated a package containing a cell phone and over 80 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
The value inside the prison was worth approximately $46,500.
The release went on to state:
“a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering it’s institutions” including scanners and drug-detector dogs for searching buildings, inmates, visitors and personal items.
CSC “is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone,” it states. “CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.”
All federal institutions have a telephone tip line for additional information about activities relating to CSC security. “These activities may be related to drug use or trafficking that may threaten the safety and security of visitors, inmates and staff members working at CSC institutions.”
The toll-free number is 1-866 780-3784. Information is protected and callers remain anonymous.
CSC did not say if a full or partial lock down of the institution was done.
