Chilliwack Fire – Busy Day With Two Calls – One A Barn Fire – City Councillor Assisted

Chilliwack – Chilliwack Fire had a busy Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

The first was a vacant home that was under demolition on the 46000 block of Brooks Avenue. Crews arrived around 3:30 AM Thursday and knocked down the blaze that is considered suspicious.  No one was hurt.

There was a fire in the same building back in May.

Second, a barn fire on the 51000 block of Wilbourn Road which could have turned into disaster. A silage barn was on fire, however one of the first people on the scene before Chilliwack Fire arrived was Chilliwack City Councilor Chris Kloot.

He posted to Twitter, “I was one of the first on scene and with some quick action we got an irrigation reel hooked up before the fire dept got there. Could have been so much worse…..amazing to see the farming community show up in a massive force to help out. Every farmers worst nightmare.”

This fire started around 5PM on Wednesday afternoon. No one was hurt, no animals harmed and the fire is considered accidental.
