Mission Appoints New Chief Administrative Officer

Mission  – Michael Younie to assume the City’s of Mission’s top administrative position as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) starting December 3, 2018.

Currently the Deputy CAO for Mission, Younie previously held the Director, Development Services position, Deputy Director of Engineering, and was Manager, Environmental Services for the municipality.

With over 12 years of experience in local government, Mr. Younie brings a wealth of experience to the position. His appointment was supported unanimously by Council and is fully supported by outgoing CAO, Ron Poole.

Mayor Hawes said, “Michael Younie is an asset to Mission, and has proven himself invaluable during his time in the deputy CAO position. Council recognizes his commitment to the community and the organization, and we fully support his move into the new role.”

“Michael is an excellent leader for the organization.  He has established positive relationships with staff and numerous community groups, and is a well-respected member of the community. The timing works well for an effective transition, as the new City Council will be in place and Mr. Younie can provide the professional direction needed to the elected body.” stated Poole.

Mr. Younie is looking forward to moving into the CAO role and said, “There’s no shortage of challenges and opportunities as our community continues to grow at a rapid pace and our work in local government changes. I am excited to begin working with the new Council, staff, and the community for the betterment of Mission.”
