Abbotsford Arts Council -14th Annual Arty Award Nominations Accepted Until August 27

Abbotsford  – It is time once again to recognize and honor the contributions of local artists and arts advocates with the presentation of the annual Arty Awards.

The Abbotsford Arts Council opens the nomination period. Entries can be submitted by someone in the arts community, a friend, or by the artist or group themselves, and will be accepted through August 27.

With the success of last Fall’s awards, changes put in place for the 2017 Artys will be retained for this year’s event. These include categories that had been redesigned to include a wider representation and more fully reflect the current arts community as a whole. Once again, awards will be presented in the categories of Performing Arts, Lifestyle, Media Arts, Youth Achievement, Literary Arts, Arts Advocate, Visual Arts and Emerging Artist.

Harry Doupe, a writer and producer with more than two decades of awards show experience has returned as Arty Awards Coordinator.

The Arty Awards will take place on Saturday, September 29 and are an initiative of the Abbotsford Arts Council to celebrate and highlight the achievements and contributions of local artists to the Abbotsford community.

Nomination forms and a full breakdown of each category, can be found on the Abbotsford Arts Council’s website (www.abbotsfordartscouncil.com) or at the Kariton Art Gallery, located at 2387 Ware Street in Abbotsford. For additional information, please contact our office by phone at (604) 852-9358, or by email at artyawards@abbotsfordartscouncil.com.

For over 40 years, the Abbotsford Arts Council has been a resource for local artists while promoting the vision, creativity, and energy of the Abbotsford community through the arts.
