Ridge Meadows RCMP – High End Cars Seized, One Displayed An “N”

Maple Ridge  – Ridge Meadows RCMP Traffic section is reminding people to watch their speed this coming long weekend after impounding two high end sports cars for excessive speeding. 

Early Thursday morning (August 2), police were performing routine traffic enforcement in the 25800 block of Lougheed Hwy when they noticed two cars, a Blue 2017 Lamborghini, Aventador and a Black 2016 McLaren, 675H, travelling East bound at what appeared to be high rates of speed.

Both cars were clocked at 138 km/p/hr in a marked 80 km/p/hr zone.

Both drivers were stopped for excessive speed and the cars were immediately impounded for a minimum of 7 days.  Both drivers received fines of $368, 3 points on their respective driving records and an incident report will be forwarded to the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles for further review.  

The driver of the Black McLaren, a 22 year old Burnaby resident, is an `N` driver.  The driver of the Blue Lamborghini is a 22 year old Burnaby resident.  Both men have previously been served with excessive speeding infractions and fines before today’s incident.   

Both men were on their way to Mission Raceway for a planned private track event when they were stopped.  The investigation also revealed that one car was equipped with a radar detector.

  • Ridge Meadows RCMP have ticketed 472 drivers for excessive speed so far to date in 2018 with 178 of those happening on the stretch of Lougheed Highway between Maple Ridge and Mission.
  • In all cases of excessive speed your car will be immediately impounded for a minimum of 7 days.
