Summer Paving – Highway One – Chilliwack To Yale

Chilliwack/Hope/Yale – You have already noticed the paving crews, and the work will pick up.

When you traveling Highway 1 between Chilliwack and Hope and onto Yale, you’ll fund an easier drive with 42 kilometres of resurfacing work starting.

The project will include resurfacing three main sections of the highway:

  • from the Young Road Overpass to Annis Road, through Chilliwack;
  • from the Bridal Falls Underpass to the Yale Tunnel, through sections in Hope; and
  • a segment of Dogwood Valley Road, south of Yale.

On Highway 1, the work will involve milling and filling sections of the highway, including associated passing lanes, as well as resurfacing the Hunter Creek Rest Area and scales. Dogwood Valley Road will be rehabilitated by replacing the existing surface.

The majority of work will be done outside of peak traffic periods to minimize delays for commuters. Construction is expected to be completed by late summer.

Key West Asphalt Ltd., based out of Surrey, has been awarded the $3.5-million contract.

Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to obey all traffic-control personnel, construction speed limits and signs.
