Hockey Canada Looking For Dedicated Volunteers For 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship in Vancouver, Victoria

Vancouver/Victoria/Fraser Valley – Hockey Canada is looking for dedicated volunteers to REPRESENT, and has launched the volunteer application process for the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship. These positions offer an opportunity for behind-the-scenes access to an annual Canadian holiday tradition for interested and qualified volunteers, when Vancouver and Victoria, host the event this December.

The 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship is being hosted in Vancouver and Victoria, Dec. 26, 2018 to Jan. 5, 2019, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, and the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria. Applications for volunteer positions supporting functions such as team services, media services, and fan experience, to name a few, are now being accepted.

“The contribution and dedication of volunteers throughout the country is invaluable to the success of Hockey Canada events,” said Dean McIntosh, vice president of events and properties for Hockey Canada. “The need for volunteers to REPRESENT in a wide variety of positions is even greater with large-scale events such as the IIHF World Junior Championship, all of which help provide a world-class experience for fans and participants alike. We recognize and appreciate the time and effort our volunteers dedicate to our events, and work hard to ensure a memorable volunteer experience.”

Volunteers taking part in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship must be 18 years of age or older as of Sept. 1, 2018, and be able to attend training sessions in advance of the event as well as undergo the established screening requirements.

Hockey Canada provides volunteers with Nike apparel, meals and snacks during their shifts, a post-event appreciation party, and the chance to make memories and lifelong friendships.

The 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship volunteer program is presented by Hockey Canada premier partner, TELUS. Guided by their philosophy to Give Where We Live, TELUS volunteers more than any other Canadian company, contributing over one million volunteer hours in 2017 alone.

Following a successful sales launch in December, select ticket packages to the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship are available at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets.
