IIO Looking For Two Key Witnesses After Chilliwack Pedestrian Was Struck By RCMP Cruiser

Chilliwack -APRIL 4 UPDATE – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is seeking key witnesses to a Motor Vehicle Incident that occurred in Chilliwack.

The IIO has identified the following witnesses as being able to provide valuable information to the investigation.

  • A man with a mustache wearing a black baseball cap (with a logo on the front), a black vest, a short sleeve blue shirt, grey pants, and black shoes
  • A person wearing a red baseball cap, wearing a black jacket and red running shoes

These pedestrians were seen walking northbound on the west side of Tyson Road at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday March 30 (near Cumberland Avenue), next to the library at the time of the collision.

The IIO is asking for these witnesses and any others who may have seen, heard, or recorded the incident to contact the IIO Witness Line at 1-855-446-8477.

MARCH 31 ORIGINAL STORY – The IIO – Independent Investigations Office of BC has been called into an internal investigation after an elderly Chilliwack woman was hit by a Police cruiser on Tyson Road, Friday evening around 5:30PM.

The senior remains in hospital. She was struck while crossing the street near the 5800 block of Tyson Road (near Sardis Library and Twin Rinks).

The IIO is a civilian-led body that responds to incidents of serious injury or death involving police officers.
