Maple Ridge/Chilliwack/Abbotsford – Ridge Meadows RCMP General Investigation Services (GIS) unit have arrested a Chilliwack man in relation to a fatal hit and run which occurred last September.
On September 14, 2017,(@9PM) police responded to a fatal hit and run collision on Lougheed Highway at 287 Street. Maple Ridge resident, Laura Jeglum-Woycheshen, age 48, was killed in the accident and two other people were seriously injured but survived.
The five-month police investigation led officers across multiple jurisdictions including Maple Ridge, Mission and Chilliwack. Support was provided by the Integrated Technical Crime Unit and Forensic Laboratory in processing numerous exhibits.
On Friday, February 2, 2018, Ridge Meadows RCMP members arrested 33-year-old, Ryan Lowe, of Chilliwack, without incident. He appeared in provincial court and is charged with the following eight criminal code charges;
Count 1 – S. 249(4) Dangerous Driver Causing Death
Count 2 – S. 255(3) Impaired Driving Causing Death
Count 3 – S. 249(3) Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm
Count 4 – S. 249(3) Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm
Count 5 – S. 255(2) Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm
Count 6 – S. 255(2) Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm
Count 7 – S. 252(1)(b) Failing to Stop at the Scene of an Accident;
Count 8 – S.140(2) Public Mischief
Also arrested in connection to this investigation was 31-year-old Abbotsford resident, Robert Lowe, for one count of obstructing a peace officer. He was released on a promise to appear.
